Scripture Helps
What the Bible has to say about:
Is any sick among you? let him call for
the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with
oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick,
and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall
be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for
another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much. (James 5:14-16) [The word ?anointing? in
verse 15 carries the meaning of ?therapeutic massage.?]
If thou wilt diligently hearken to the
voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight,
and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will
put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the
Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. (Exod. 15:26)
See now that I, even I, am he, and there
is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither
is there any that can deliver out of my hand. (Deut. 32:39)
If my people, which are called by my
name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from
their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their
sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chron. 7:14)
That prepareth his heart to seek God,
the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the
purification of the sanctuary. And the LORD hearkened to Hezekiah, and
healed the people. And the children of Israel that were present at
Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great
gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day,
singing with loud instruments unto the LORD. (2 Chron. 30:19-21)
I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast
lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. O LORD my God,
I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. (Psalm 30:1-2)
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that
is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget
not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all
thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee
with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good
things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. (Psalm 103:1-5)
Then they cry unto the LORD in their
trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and
healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. (Psalm 107:19-20)
Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to
sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. The
LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of
Israel. He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
(Psalm 147:1-3)
To every thing there is a season, and a
time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to
die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time
to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
(Eccl. 3:1-3)
And he said, Go, and tell this people,
Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut
their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and
understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. (Isa. 6:9-10)
Moreover the light of the moon shall be
as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as
the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of
his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. (Isa. 30:26)
Who hath believed our report? and to
whom is the arm of the LORD Revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a
tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should
desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and
acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was
despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and
carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and
afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for
our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed. (Isa. 53:1-5)
For thus saith the high and lofty One
that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy
place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to Revive
the spirit of the humble, and to Revive the heart of the contrite ones.
For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the
spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made. For the
iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was
wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. I have seen his
ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto
him and to his mourners. I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to
him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will
heal him. (Isa. 57:15-19)
Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed;
save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. (Jer. 17:14)
For I will restore health unto thee, and
I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; (Jer. 30:17)
Come, and let us return unto the LORD:
for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind
us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us
up, and we shall live in his sight. (Hosea 6:1-2)
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall
burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall
be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of
hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that
fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his
wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. (Mal.
4:1-2)
And Jesus went about all Galilee,
teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick
people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which
were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that
had the palsy; and he healed them. (Matt. 4:23-24)
Matt. 8 1 When he was
come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. 2 And,
behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt,
thou canst make me clean. 3 And Jesus put forth his hand,
and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean.
And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus
saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy
way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded,
for a testimony unto them. 5 And when Jesus was
entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 6 And
saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously
tormented. 7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. 8 The
centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest
come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be
healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers
under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come,
and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When
Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith,
no, not in Israel. 11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the
east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in
the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into
outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13 And
Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as
thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was
healed in the selfsame hour. 14 And when Jesus was come
into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a
fever. 15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her:
and she arose, and ministered unto them. 16 When the even
was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and
he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 17 That
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias [Isaiah] the prophet,
saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
And Jesus went about all the cities and
villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
(Matt. 9:35)
Matt. 10 1 And when he
had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against
unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and
all manner of disease. 2 Now the names of the twelve
apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his
brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip,
and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of
Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 4 Simon
the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. 5 These
twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go
not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans
enter ye not: 6 But go
rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at
hand. 8 Heal
the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye
have received, freely give.
Matt. 12 10 And, behold,
there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying,
Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11 And
he said unto them, What man shall there be among
you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath
day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it
is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13 Then
saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And
he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. 14 Then
the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might
destroy him. 15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew
himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them
all; 16 And charged them that they should not make him
known: 17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by
Esaias the prophet, saying, 18 Behold my servant, whom I
have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my
spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. 19 He
shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the
streets. 20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking
flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. 21 And
in his name shall the Gentiles trust. 22 Then was brought
unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him,
insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. 23 And
all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
And Jesus went forth, and saw a great
multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their
sick. (Matt. 14:14)
And great multitudes came unto him,
having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many
others, and cast them down at Jesus? feet; and he healed them: Insomuch
that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed
to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified
the God of Israel. (Matt. 15:30-31)
And it came to pass, that when Jesus had
finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts
of Judaea beyond Jordan; And great multitudes followed him; and he healed
them there. (Matt. 19:1-2)
And Jesus went into the temple of God,
and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew
the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be
called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
(Matt. 21:12-14)
Mark 1 28 And
immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about
Galilee. 29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the
synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and
John. 30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a
fever, and anon they tell him of her. 31 And he came and
took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left
her, and she ministered unto them. 32 And at even, when
the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them
that were possessed with devils. 33 And all the city was
gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many that
were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not
the devils to speak, because they knew him.
Mark 3 1 And he entered
again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered
hand. 2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on
the sabbath day; that they might accuse him. 3 And he
saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand
forth. 4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do
evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace. 5 And
when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the
hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch
forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was
restored whole as the other.
Mark 3 10 For he had
healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many
as had plagues. 11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him,
fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. 12 And
He earnestly warned them not to make Him known. 13 And he
goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they
came unto him. 14 And he ordained twelve, that they should
be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, 15 And
to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
Mark 5 21 And when Jesus
was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered
unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. 22 And, behold,
there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when
he saw him, he fell at his feet, 23 And besought him
greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray
thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall
live. 24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed
him, and thronged him. 25 And a certain woman, which had
an issue of blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many
things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing
bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of
Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For
she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 29 And
straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her
body that she was healed of that plague. 30 And Jesus,
immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him
about in the press, and said, Who touched my
clothes? 31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou
seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 32 And
he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. 33 But
the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and
fell down before him, and told him all the truth. 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee
whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. 35 While
he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain
which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any
further? 36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was
spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only
believe. 37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save
Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. 38 And he
cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult,
and them that wept and wailed greatly. 39 And when he was
come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado,
and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. 40 And
they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the
father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and
entereth in where the damsel was lying. 41 And he took the
damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi;
which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto
thee, arise. 42 And straightway the damsel arose,
and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were
astonished with a great astonishment. 43 And he charged
them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something
should be given her to eat.
Luke 4 14 And Jesus
returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a
fame of him through all the region round about. 15 And he
taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. 16 And
he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was,
he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And
there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he
had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, because he hath
anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the
brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of
sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the LORD. 20 And
he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down.
And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is
this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Luke 4 37 And the fame
of him went out into every place of the country round about. 38 And
he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And
Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought
him for her. 39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the
fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto
them. 40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had
any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands
on every one of them, and healed them. 41 And devils also
came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God.
And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was
Christ.
Luke 5 12 And it came to
pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who
seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou
wilt, thou canst make me clean. 13 And he put forth his
hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou
clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14 And
he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew
thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses
commanded, for a testimony unto them. 15 But so
much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came
together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 16 And
he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. 17 And
it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were
Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every
town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the LORD was
present to heal them. 18 And, behold, men brought in a bed
a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in,
and to lay him before him. 19 And when they could not find
by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went
upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into
the midst before Jesus. 20 And when he saw their faith, he
said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason,
saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but
God alone? 22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he
answering said unto them, What reason ye in your
hearts? 23 Whether is
easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
24 But that ye may know that
the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto
the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and
take up thy couch, and go into thine house. 25 And
immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and
departed to his own house, glorifying God. 26 And they
were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear,
saying, We have seen strange things today.
Luke 6 6 And it came to
pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and
taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. 7 And
the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the
sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. 8 But
he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand,
Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. 9 Then
said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is
it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or
to destroy it? 10 And looking round about upon them
all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand.
And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. 11 And
they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they
might do to Jesus.
And he came down with them, and stood in
the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of
people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre
and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; And
they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. And the
whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and
healed them all. (Luke 6:17-19)
Luke 7 1 Now when he had
ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into
Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was
dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3 And when he
heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him
that he would come and heal his servant. 4 And when they
came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for
whom he should do this: 5 For he loveth our nation, and he
hath built us a synagogue. 6 Then Jesus went with them.
And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to
him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that
thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7 Wherefore neither
thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my
servant shall be healed. 8 For I also am a man set under
authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth;
and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he
doeth it. 9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at
him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not
in Israel. 10 And they that were sent, returning to
the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. 11 And
it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and
many of his disciples went with him, and much people. 12 Now
when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man
carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much
people of the city was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw
her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep
not. 14 And he came and touched the bier: and they
that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I
say unto thee, Arise. 15 And he that was dead sat
up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother. 16 And
there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great
prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people. 17 And
this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all
the region round about. 18 And the disciples of John
shewed him of all these things. 19 And John calling unto
him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that
should come? or look we for another? 20 When the men were
come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art
thou he that should come? or look we for another? 21 And
in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of
evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight. 22 Then
Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and
tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the
lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to
the poor the gospel is preached. 23 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
24 And when the messengers of John were departed, he began
to speak unto the people concerning John, What went
ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
25 But what went ye out for to
see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously
apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. 26 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say
unto you, and much more than a prophet. 27 This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my
messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
28 For I
say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater
prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God
is greater than he.
Luke 8 40 And it came to
pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for
they were all waiting for him. 41 And, behold, there came
a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down
at Jesus? feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: 42 For
he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying.
But as he went the people thronged him. 43 And a woman
having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon
physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44 Came behind
him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of
blood stanched. 45 And Jesus said, Who
touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him
said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou,
Who touched me? 46 And Jesus said, Somebody
hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47 And
when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling
down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what
cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. 48 And
he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy
faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. 49 While
he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house,
saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. 50 But
when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear
not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. 51 And
when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and
James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 52 And
all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not;
she is not dead, but sleepeth. 53 And they laughed
him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54 And he put
them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. 55 And her spirit came
again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. 56 And
her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no
man what was done.
Then he called his twelve disciples
together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure
diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the
sick. (Luke 9:1-2)
And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip,
neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. And
whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. And
whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the
very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. And they
departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing
every where. (Luke 9:3-6)
And the people, when they knew it,
followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of
God, and healed them that had need of healing. (Luke 9:11)
Luke 9 37 And it came to
pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much
people met him. 38 And, behold, a man of the company cried
out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only
child. 39 And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly
crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him
hardly departeth from him. 40 And I besought thy disciples
to cast him out; and they could not. 41 And Jesus
answering said, O faithless and perverse generation,
how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.
42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down,
and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child,
and delivered him again to his father.
And he was teaching in one of the
synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a
spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in
no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and
said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine
infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was
made straight, and glorified God. (Luke 13:10-13)
Luke 14 1 And it came to
pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread
on the sabbath day, that they watched him. 2 And, behold,
there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy. 3 And
Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? 4 And
they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; 5 And
answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an
ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on
the sabbath day? 6 And they could not answer him
again to these things.
Luke 17 11 And it came
to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of
Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as he entered into a certain
village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: 13 And
they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. 14 And
when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew
yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they
went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw
that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 And
fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a
Samaritan. 17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that
returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. 19 And
he said unto him, Arise, go
thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
John 4 46 So Jesus came
again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a
certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When
he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him,
and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at
the point of death. 48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my
child die. 50 Jesus saith unto him, Go
thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus
had spoken unto him, and he went his way. 51 And as he was
now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to
amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever
left him. 53 So the father knew that it was at the same
hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son
liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
John 5 1 After this
there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now
there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the
Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these
lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting
for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a
certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first
after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever
disease he had. 5 And a certain man was there, which had
an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him
lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto
him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7 The
impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled,
to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down
before me. 8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise,
take up thy bed, and walk. 9 And immediately the
man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day
was the sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said unto him that
was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy
bed. 11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same
said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. 12 Then asked
they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and
walk? 13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for
Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward
Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold,
thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus,
which had made him whole.
Acts 3 1 Now Peter and
John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the
ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother's
womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is
called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; 3 Who
seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. 4 And
Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. 5 And
he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. 6 Then
Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee:
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 7 And
he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet
and ankle bones received strength. 8 And he leaping up
stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and
leaping, and praising God. 9 And all the people saw him
walking and praising God: 10 And they knew that it was he
which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were
filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. 11 And
as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran
together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly
wondering. 12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the
people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so
earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this
man to walk? 13 The God of Abraham, and of Isa.ac, and of
Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye
delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was
determined to let him go. 14 But ye denied the Holy One
and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; 15 And
killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we
are witnesses. 16 And his name through faith in his name
hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is
by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. 17 And
now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your
rulers. 18 But those things, which God before had shewed
by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so
fulfilled. 19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that
your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from
the presence of the Lord; 20 And he shall send Jesus
Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21 Whom the
heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which
God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world
began. 22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet
shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me;
him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23 And
it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet,
shall be destroyed from among the people. 24 Yea, and all
the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have
spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25 Ye are
the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our
fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of
the earth be blessed. 26 Unto you first God, having raised
up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you
from his iniquities.
Acts 4 1 And as they
spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the
Sadducees, came upon them, 2 Being grieved that they
taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the
dead. 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold
unto the next day: for it was now eventide. 4 Howbeit many
of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about
five thousand. 5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that
their rulers, and elders, and scribes, 6 And Annas the
high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of
the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jer.usalem. 7 And
when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what
name, have ye done this? 8 Then Peter, filled with the
Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the
impotent man, by what means he is made whole; 10 Be it
known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the
dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This
is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the
head of the Corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any
other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby
we must be saved. 13 Now when they saw the boldness of
Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men,
they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with
Jesus. 14 And beholding the man which was healed standing
with them, they could say nothing against it.
Acts 4 15 But when they
had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among
themselves, 16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for
that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all
them that dwell in Jer.usalem; and we cannot deny it. 17 But
that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them,
that they speak henceforth to no man in this name. 18 And
they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the
name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said
unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you
more than unto God, judge ye. 20 For we cannot but speak
the things which we have seen and heard. 21 So when they
had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they
might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for
that which was done. 22 For the man was above forty years
old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed. 23 And
being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the
chief priests and elders had said unto them. 24 And when
they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and
said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea,
and all that in them is: 25 Who by the mouth of thy
servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine
vain things? 26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the
rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. 27 For
of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both
Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel,
were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand
and thy counsel determined before to be done. 29 And now,
Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with
all boldness they may speak thy word, 30 By stretching
forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the
name of thy holy child Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed,
the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all
filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Acts 8 5 Then Philip
went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. 6 And
the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake,
hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For
unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were
possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were
healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city.
Acts 14 1 And it came to
pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the
Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of
the Greeks believed. 2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up
the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren. 3 Long
time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave
testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be
done by their hands. 4 But the multitude of the city was
divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles. 5 And
when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews
with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them, 6 They
were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and
unto the region that lieth round about: 7 And there they
preached the gospel. 8 And there sat a certain man at
Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who
never had walked: 9 The same heard Paul speak: who
steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, 10 Said
with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. 11 And
when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices,
saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the
likeness of men. 12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and
Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. 13 Then
the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and
garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people. 14 Which
when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes,
and ran in among the people, crying out, 15 And saying,
Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you,
and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the
living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that
are therein: 16 Who in times past suffered all nations to
walk in their own ways. 17 Nevertheless he left not
himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from
heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. 18 And
with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not
done sacrifice unto them. 19 And there came thither
certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and,
having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead. 20 Howbeit,
as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the
city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. 21 And
when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they
returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch, 22 Confirming
the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith,
and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. 23 And
when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with
fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
Acts 28 1 And when they
were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita. 2 And
the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a
fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because
of the cold. 3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of
sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and
fastened on his hand. 4 And when the barbarians saw the
venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this
man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance
suffereth not to live. 5 And he shook off the beast into
the fire, and felt no harm. 6 Howbeit they looked when he
should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had
looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their
minds, and said that he was a god. 7 In the same quarters
were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius;
who received us, and lodged us three days courteously. 8 And
it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a
bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on
him, and healed him. 9 So when this was done, others also,
which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed.
