Site Security

All online transactions at our Web Site are handled by our secure server using SSL technology to protect that information.

When you enter your credit card number into our order form, it is transmitted across the Internet in an encrypted (scrambled) form, then decoded when it gets to us. We also refrain from maintaining ANY credit-card information on any disk or tape attached to our servers.

While we would not go so far as to say that encryption allows data transmission "without risk", we agree that it makes the risk astronomically small. If you are not the kind of person who worries about being hit by lightning as you're crossing the street, you probably don't have to worry that your credit card number will be intercepted on the way to a secure Web site.

According to CNN,

"The prevalent opinion ? is that on-line credit card use is actually no riskier for consumers than traditional 'low-tech' transactions."

We order products online all the time, both as a company and as individuals. When we use a credit card to buy something online, we feel at least as safe as we would using one in a store or restaurant.

How do I know your site is secure?

After you have selected your purchases, viewed your shopping care, and clicked on the CHECKOUT button, you will notice two confirming changes in your web browser's appearance.

1.

The URL in the "Address" bar changes:

a. http:// becomes https:// indicating
that you are now using the secure
internet protocol.

b. The address changes from TheHerbDoc.com/order.asp to secure15.activehost.com/theherbdoc
indicating that you are now on our
host's secure website.

Your address bar changes from this:

To this:

2.  The gold "secure site" padlock appears in the border of your browser screen. Notice that the padlock is in the border, not on the internet page itself.
