How This Business Was Formed

In 1976, Dr. Eugene Watkins and his wife, Gisela Watkins, started making liquid extracts on the kitchen table. They made them for family and Dr. Watkins' consultees because they are absorbed more easily and work faster than tablets or capsules. It didn't take long until many other people heard about the extracts and demanded them too. Before long, manufacturing expanded to include the breezeway, much of the house, and the garage. At that point, the decision was made to acquire our first building.

We are currently in our third and largest building, approximately 25,000 square feet. Rest assured, in pursuit of serving you better, our dedication to quality remains steadfast. As our product line grew from 6 to 140 items, we felt we could offer enough variety to handle all your herbal extract needs.

The desire for a marketing plan was our most frequently received request. As we took on the task of setting up a marketing plan, the first thing we did was to ask people with proven experience in multi-level marketing what they liked or did not like about the business. We listened attentively, and wrote down their answers. From this, we isolated the things that work from things that do not work.

Pure Herbs markets its products through an organization of Independent Distributors. This form of marketing eliminates the cost of large corporate structure, mass media advertising, and costly marketing procedure, so we can keep our attention on quality.

What seems to work best is to have an outstanding product, to have a simple marketing program that is understandable and provides a fair return for the people who participate in it, and to have a company that grows with and remains responsible to the needs of its participants.

Growth

Our decision to use multi-level marketing has paid off. At the present time, we offer almost 500 different herbs and herbal combinations, and 20 different encapsulated products, including many herbs that are hard to find on the shelves of your local health food store. Pure Herbs, Ltd. produces a full line of single herbs and combination herbs from around the world.
